Your local gardener

I’m Martin Daniels, based in Harwood. I’m developing The Eco Gardener Harwood as a small, personal gardening service for Harwood, Bromley Cross, Ainsworth and nearby communities.

My focus is regular garden care, productive growing and manageable improvements: an attractive border, healthier soil, space for wildlife or a little more food from the garden.

A garden that suits your life

I favour a thoughtful approach: understand the conditions, keep what works and make changes where they will help. The aim is a garden you can enjoy, with planting and upkeep matched to the time and support available.

I’m preparing for a limited Spring 2027 launch, with readiness taking priority over the date. Until then, I’m building practical confidence and a genuine portfolio through work in my own garden. When the service opens, I plan to look after a small number of local gardens through agreed weekday appointments.

Learning through practical work

I am currently studying the RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Plant Growth and Development, alongside practical experience in propagation, composting, productive growing and wildlife-friendly gardening.

My own family garden is where I trial plants and approaches, observe what succeeds and learn from what needs changing. It remains a private garden; photographs and observations can help explain the work.

Working with nature

Peat-free growing, pesticide-free routine care and quieter battery-powered tools underpin my approach. I favour composting and reuse on site where practical, and choose plants for the conditions and care they will receive.

Where suitable and available, this can include plants propagated in Harwood, productive perennials and locally relevant heritage varieties.
